can you keep a male betta in hard alkaline water?

I am just so curious because people tell me that betta are very hardy fish and can survive in any water but i would just like to know if they can thrive in water hard and Alkaline like that of lake Tanganyika,i am not going to put a betta in hard water i am just so curious.

    No, the alkaline makes their bodies really weak.

    not sure ive seen them in normal fish tanks before and they look happy but i used bottled water for mine and it was happy until i forgot to take it out of the sun and it boiled lol :( it gets cold here.

    you can keep it, but it may get sick and die. Betta’s do better in slightly acidic waters(full of tannins).
